CHEMISTRY Common name: thiosultap-sodium (BSI, pa ISO) Class: Neristoxin. IUPAC name: disodium S,S'-[2-(dimethylamino)trimethylene]di(thiosulfate) Chemical Abstracts name: disodium S,S'-2-(dimethylamino)-1,3-propanediylthiosulfate Other names: dimehypo; sha chong shuang CAS RN: [52207-48-4] Structure Formula: Specification: 40%SL PHYSICAL CHEMISTRYMelting Point: 142-143 癈 Density: 1.13 (20°C); Vapour Pressure: 0.01333Pa min. Appearance: white crystal (a.i.). Tech is a brown-yellowish or dark brownish liquid, unpleasant odor, easily absorbs moisture. 40%SL is slight yellow color liquid. Solubility: well soluble in water, soluble in methanol, ethanol, N,N-dimethylfornanide(DMF), Dimethyli Sulphoxidum. Slight soluble in action. Insoluble in Ethyl Acetate, aether. Stability: It will decompose under strong acid and alkaline conditions. pH: 8-9.
TOXICITYOral: Acute oral LD50 for male rats 680, female rats 520, male mice 200, female mice 235 mg/kg. Skin and eye: Acute percutaneous LD50 for rabbit <448.3mg/kg; no irritation to skin or eyes in rabbits. Inhalation: LC50 (6 h) for rats >0.83 mg/kg. NOEL (2 y) for rats 20 mg/kg b.w. daily; (1.5 y) for mice 30 mg/kg b.w. daily. ADI: 0.025 mg/kg bw.
ENVIRONMENTAL GUIDELINESFish acute toxicity: low toxic. Moderate toxic to bees. Toxic to silkworm.
EMERGENCY GUIDELINESFIRE EXTINGUISHING MEDIA: Carbon dioxide, water spray. FIRST AID: Get medical aid. Eyes, flush immediately with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. Skin, wash thoroughly with soap and water. Remove contaminated clothing and shoes. Ingestion, drink 1-2 glasses of water and induce vomiting. Inhalation, remove to fresh air.
ACTION/USEBiochemistry: Analogue or propesticide of the natural toxin nereistoxin. Nicotinergic acetylcholine blocker, causing paralysis by blocking cholinergic transmissions in the central nervous systems of insects. Mode of action: Systemic insecticide with stomach and contact action. Insects discontinue feeding, and die of starvation.
RECOMMENDED USAGE METHOD
CAUTION Toxic to silkworms. Do not contaminate mulberry leaves and silkworm room. Light phytotoxic to potato, bean, broomcorn and cotton. If ingested, please ask for a medical help immediately. Induce vomiting or do a gastric lavage. The pre-harvest interval s 14 days.
