理化性质：淡黄色油状液体，有清淡香味。b.p.128～130℃/40Pa，蒸气压4.13×10-2Pa(20℃)，折射率n21D1.5047。可溶于苯、醇、醚等多种有机溶剂，不溶于水。对光、热和酸性介质较稳定，在碱性介质中易分解。

毒性：小鼠急性经口LD50790毫克/公斤，大鼠急性经口LD50 340毫克/公斤。Ames试验为阴性。

作用特点及杀虫谱：是一种高效、低毒的新型拟除虫菊酯类杀虫剂，具胃毒和触杀活性，并有一定的熏蒸作用。对蚊、蝇、蟑螂均有较好的效果。具有蒸气压高、挥发度好、杀灭力强的特点，对害虫击倒速度快，特别是在喷雾及熏蒸时的击倒效果更为显著。除防治卫生害虫外，亦可用于防治仓贮害虫。喷雾法防治家蝇，剂量为5.8～10mg/ m3；每片含药剂250mg的电热蚊香片加热至150℃，对淡色库蚊杀死率达80%～100%。当剂量为0.2mg时，对黑大毛皮囊幼虫的灭杀率达100%。
剂型：40%气雾液剂，以及蚊香片剂、液剂等。
生产方法：3-羟基-4-甲基-4，5-烯基-1-庚炔由2-甲基-2-戊烯醛与乙炔钠反应制取。3-羟基-4-甲基-4，5-烯基-1-庚炔与二氯菊酰氯反应制得氯烯炔菊酯。
生产情况：1947年日本住友化学合成，但未工业化。20世纪80年代，中国不少单位试制，发现其杀虫活性。国内生产企业：南京沃得化工有限公司；广州邦农化工有限公司；南京绿邦农药有限公司；广东立威化工有限公司；上海中西药业股份有限公司、华东医学生物技术研究所实验厂。常州市志通生化有限公司
